“We have decided to hold a demonstration on the GB Independence Day (November 1) at Danyor, Gilgit, to start the protest movement against the government,” said Amjad Husain, provisional party president, told The Nation here yesterday.

Reiterating his party’s commitment of providing constitutional rights to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, he said that their party had always brought constitutional reforms in Gilgit-Baltistan whenever it had come into power.

He said that the Self-Governance Order 2009 was a landmark achievement of the PPP government which has empowered the locals to decide about their destiny at their own to a large extent.

He accused the Nawaz government of usurping legal rights of the people instead of providing them with more.

He termed the government’s performance very dismal adding it has totally failed to resolve the masses problems.

Amjad warned the government of strong agitation if it failed to improve its performance by insuring good governance.

Gilgit-Baltistan should be made fifth province of the country as per demand of the locals as it has nothing to link with the Kashmir issue.
